Karnataka: Soon, jungle safari to start in Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary

Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka, will very soon welcome visitors with jungle safaris. The safari routes will be in Gopinatham, inside Cauvery WS, the birthplace of the infamous slain bandit Veerappan.

For those curious, Gopinatham, was left untouched by tourism for a really long time for obvious nefarious activities of now slain bandit Veerappan. But now, the state is making efforts to promote eco-tourism in Gopinatham. Under this, visitors will be able to experience the Mystery Trail Camp, an exciting trail that takes visitors around to places associated with Veerappan and also the memorial of IFS officer Srinivas who was slain by Veerappan. This trail is maintained by Jungle Lodges and Resorts.

Apart from the jungle safari, as a part of the project, there will also be water sports at the Hogenakkal Falls, located just 3 km from Gopinatham. Those visiting the Hogenakkal area, they will be able to enjoy boating, the traditional coracles too.
