Kedarnath encounters continuous snowfall; travel advisory issued for pilgrims

According to reports, Kedarnath Dham has been snowing steadily since Monday morning. In light of the weather, the Uttarakhand Police has advised pilgrims to exercise caution while on their yatra.

The Indian Meteorological Department issued an alert on Sunday for the state’s four-day forecast of thunderstorms and hailstorms. Since this morning, there has been continuous snowfall in Kedarnath Dham, according to the Uttarakhand Police, who advised tourists to exercise greater caution and to call emergency services at 112 in case of an emergency.

An Orange Alert has also been issued for adverse weather in the state for the following four days from today by the Indian Meteorological Department. In addition, it issued a warning for areas above 3500 metres due to heavy snowfall and hailstorms with winds of 70 km/h.

In a statement, the Meteorological Department noted that intermittent snowfall has been falling in Kedarnath Dham for the previous 13 days, the weather there is still cloudy, and the area is growing colder as a result of the snowfall.
